It was a formal affair at Maree and Marc’s wedding in St Kilda. “We always wanted a modern venue and after our first visit to Encore we fell in love with it. The space, location, staff and food were all so incredible and it was where Marc had proposed so it was fitting.” Once the couple found their venue the other elements fell into place.

COLOURS OF CHOICE

Maree and Marc’s wedding was elegantly styled with a modern colour scheme of green, copper, marble and burgundy. “I love green foliage and wanted to incorporate as much as I could into the wedding day. Thank goodness we found the perfect florist. Casey from Tillda knew the colours we loved and the style we were aiming for. Our bouquets and centrepieces made up of foliage, and white and burgundy blooms with a mix of David Austin roses, rose buds, and tulips.”

SIMPLE ELEGANCE

“Our wedding stationery was mainly white with a copper foil border and a black marble envelope liner. We ordered our stationery online and couldn’t have been happier with the result.” In keeping with the marble accents, Maree created marble tiles in lieu of place cards on which each guest’s name was handwritten. “We also had marble table numbers and a wedding cake to match with 5-tiers of alternating copper and marble layers. It was red velvet and white chocolate.” As a sweet tooth, Marc was happy to have mini jars of Nutella which Maree decorated with marble stickers as wedding favours for their guests.

THE GOWN

Maree wanted a gown that was contemporary in style and reflected her personality. “The aim was to find a dress that would suit a church ceremony but would also be comfortable for dancing. I knew what I wanted, however it was just a matter of finding it! After starting my search in New York a year and a half prior to the wedding, it took 6 months of searching and trying on over 30 dresses before I chose a beautifully beaded Berta gown, that had long sleeves, high neck and a great silhouette.”

THE GROOM

With the help of Arthur Galan, Marc looked suave in his traditional tuxedo for the ceremony. “Formal was the aim and the finishing touches were purple socks and an Emporio Armani watch. Marc also had a velvet jacket to change into for the reception.”

LATE FOR A VERY IMPORTANT DATE

One of the more stressful moments came when Maree’s sister received a call on the wedding day asking where Marc was. “It was 1.05pm and the ceremony was supposed to start at 1pm. Marc didn’t arrive until 10 past! I thought the bride was supposed to be late!”

PROPER COPPER STYLE

The couple purchased a number of copper lanterns that they used as unique table centrepieces. The table settings were complete with ghost chairs, copper cutlery and copper charger plates.
