After a Christmas Day proposal, Hannah and Nic had 18 months to plan their beachside wedding. “Nic and I met during a night out playing pool in West End in Brisbane. Once we were engaged we took things slowly and ticked off one thing at a time. The first thing of course was to lock in the incredible Marcus Bell of Studio Impressions.”

MY LOVE | For Hannah, the highlight of the day was the ceremony. “It was deeply personal whilst also being light hearted and inclusive of all our guests. I remember the whole day so vividly and loved every moment from getting ready with the girls to dancing to the tunes of our incredible 6-piece band Big Kitty.”

In fact there was lots of dancing over the course of the wedding. “It started in the morning when my brother decided to join my bridesmaids who were dancing in their matching robes! The time getting ready with my family in the morning was one of the best parts of the day. There was lots of laughter and tears!”

THE SWEETEST GOWN | Hannah wore a lace gown with sweetheart neckline and fitted bodice. “The skirt was light and flowed beautifully from my waist, perfect for a beach wedding. It was very flattering and so easy to move in. Most importantly I could dance in it! I was comfortable and felt beautiful.”
Hannah’s bridesmaids chose their own dresses. “The only guideline was that the dresses be green. We made a weekend of shopping, meeting my sister Leah in Sydney. Two hours and 3 different boutiques later, the girls had their dresses and we were able to relax for the rest of the weekend!

The young ones of Hannah’s extended family played a sweet and sometimes hilarious role in the wedding day. “My niece Bonnie was our flowergirl and borrowed the dress my aunt had worn as flowergirl to my mum’s wedding in 1975.”
“Throughout the entire ceremony my nephew held my hand and wouldn’t let me go!”

BEACH STYLE | Hannah and Nic held their ceremony on Home Beach at North Stradbroke Island. As a photographer, Hannah remembers having captured a wedding at this same location. “It had always stuck in my mind as being a beautiful escape with an endless view of the water. It didn’t disappoint and dolphins and whales graced us with their presence.”
Stalks and Stems created beautiful native bouquets and buttonholes. Both the beachfront ceremony and reception had a relaxed atmosphere. A ceremonial arbour was decorated with white chiffon and greenery and jute rugs formed the aisle. “For the reception we sourced olive branches from a local farm. They looked beautiful hanging behind the bridal table.” Candles and fairy lights brought the reception space to life in the evening.

‘CHEESE’ CAKE | “Our wedding ‘cake’ was wheels of cheese decorated with green daisies, baby’s breath and feathers on a wooden board.”
Hannah and Nic gave each guest a postcard of the island as well as sweets for wedding favours.
