From Lima to London, Paris to Bangkok, this year’s list celebrates culture, creativity, and culinary mastery across five continents.
Just weeks ago, we covered the World’s 50 Best 51–100 list and the Australian gems worth booking a flight for — a vibrant teaser of what was to come. Now, the wait is over, and the official top 50 has landed.
The awards evening in Turin, Italy, wasn’t just a celebration — it was a reminder of how deeply personal, political, and powerful food can be. It can spark movements, connect communities, and reimagine what dining looks and feels like in 2025 and beyond.
Leading the global culinary conversation is Maido in Lima, Peru — now crowned The World’s Best Restaurant 2025. Helmed by the extraordinary Chef Mitsuharu ‘Micha’ Tsumura, Maido is a masterclass in Nikkei cuisine, blending meticulous Japanese techniques with the bold, soulful flavours of Peru. It’s not just food — it’s a cultural conversation, plated.
Ranked at No.5 last year, Maido’s rise to the top is a celebration of both innovation and identity. And it doesn’t stand alone: Asador Etxebarri (Spain) and Quintonil (Mexico City) take the second and third spots respectively, anchoring a list that spans 22 countries across five continents.
Following our June story celebrating the “almost-famous” 51–100 rankings — including some standout Australian entries like Restaurant Botanic (No.82) and Brae (No.86) — this latest announcement cements the top-tier dining establishments leading the global conversation in food, flavour, and hospitality.
This year’s top 50 celebrates bold movement across the board:
Ten new entries debut in the top 50, including Potong in Bangkok (No.13), earning Highest New Entry
Ikoyi in London (No.15) soared 27 spots to claim Highest Climber
Paris, a perennial gastronomic hub, remains dominant with four entries including Plénitude (No.14) (pic) and Table by Bruno Verjus (No.8)
Special awards brought a deeper layer of celebration:

World’s Best Pastry Chef: Maxime Frédéric at Cheval Blanc Paris
Sustainable Restaurant Award: Celele in Cartagena
World’s Best Sommelier: Mohamed Benabdallah of Asador Etxebarri
As always, the 50 Best list isn’t just about food — it’s about the people and principles redefining what hospitality means in 2025 and beyond.
