Why we love it
Canberra never tries too hard, and neither does its most romantic address. Built in the 1920s on Commonwealth Avenue, the heritage-listed Hyatt Hotel Canberra unfolds through low white façades, red-tiled roofs, elegant interiors and courtyards tucked between its wings. It feels less like checking into a city hotel and more like being let in on a very well-kept secret.
For your wedding
The Lavender Courtyard – private, romantic and framed by Art Deco architecture: vows beneath the open sky, champagne as the afternoon light moves across the garden.
The Ambassador Courtyard – opens directly onto the Canberra Room, so ceremony, drinks and dinner flow without asking guests to move.
The Federation Ballroom – the grand gesture: 504 square metres, high ceilings and room for up to 340 seated or 600 for cocktails.
The Centenary Ballroom – fireplaces, warm colour and a polished dance floor, for candlelight and black tie. Up to 150 seated or 220 for cocktails.
The whole weekend in one place – get ready upstairs, celebrate downstairs, and take the lift home. An in-house wedding specialist and menus designed with the executive chef using regional produce.
